It's fine to say that everything can be cherry picked, but what I don't understand is how that somehow invalidates Sam's assertion that a case could be made for stoning someone for adultery. I think it seems obvious by your own argument that you could make that case. It seems to me the real difference here is that the Bible is being held up as a divine revelation, as a guide to live your life by and it seems a poor guide to me where you can justify any behavior you wish.
